November 2026 Individual Tax Deadlines

As we move into the holiday season, November brings a few specific tax deadlines and reporting obligations. At Blumark Tax Advisors, we want to ensure you stay ahead of these dates. This month, the primary focus for individuals is the November 10 deadline for reporting October tips.

November 10 Deadline for Tip Reporting

If you are an employee who receives tips and you collected $20 or more during October 2026, you must report this income to your employer no later than November 10. You can fulfill this requirement by using IRS Form 4070 or by providing a written statement. If you choose to write your own statement, it must include your signature, name, address, and Social Security number. You will also need to list your employer’s name and address (or the establishment's name, if different), the specific month or period the report covers, and the total amount of tips you received during that timeframe.

Once reported, your employer is required to withhold FICA taxes and income tax for these tips directly from your regular wages. In situations where your regular pay is insufficient to cover this withholding, your employer will report the uncollected amount in Box 8 of your W-2 for the year. You will then be responsible for paying that uncollected tax when you file your annual income tax return.

How Weekends and Holidays Impact Deadlines

When a standard tax due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, your filing deadline is automatically extended. In these cases, you have until the next business day that is not a legal holiday to meet your obligation.
