November 2026 Individual Tax Deadlines and Reporting Obligations

As fall transitions into the holiday season, November brings a specific set of tax deadlines and reporting obligations. For individuals and service-based professionals, staying ahead of these dates provides greater financial clarity and confidence. Take a moment to review the essential November 2026 tax deadlines, including the vital November 10 requirement for reporting October tips.

November 10: Reporting October Tips to Your Employer

Employee reviewing tax obligations

If you are an employee who works for tips and received $20 or more in tips during October 2026, you are required to report those earnings to your employer no later than November 10. You can fulfill this requirement by submitting IRS Form 4070 or providing your own signed written statement. Any statement you create must include your name, address, and Social Security number; your employer’s name (or the establishment’s name if different) and address; the specific month or period the report covers; and the total amount of tips you received during that timeframe.

Once reported, your employer is required to withhold FICA taxes and income tax withholding for these tips directly from your regular wages. If your standard wages are not sufficient to cover the necessary FICA and tax withholding, your employer will report the amount of the uncollected withholding in box 8 of your W-2 for the year. You will then be required to pay that uncollected balance when you file your annual tax return.

Filing Extensions for Designated Disaster Areas

If you reside or conduct business in a geographical location designated as a disaster area, your tax due dates will generally be extended. To verify whether your specific area has received this designation and to check the corresponding filing extension dates, you can consult the following official resources:
