About

My QB Journey

As a ProAdvisor I am a bookkeeper who specializes in QuickBooks.

Zee Marie has been a business owner, operator and more for several decades in a few different industries.* Having a business means being responsible for accurate accounting and bookkeeping of all financial transactions. Having some fundamental education in accounting and bookkeeping, Zee decided to do her own books.

As a sole proprietor, Zee established Zee Designs in December of 1988; a graphics design company focused on the development of print media. She has acquired the services of a CPA for year-end services since 1990. In 1999, the company became a General Partnership and expanded its services to include web and online software development and in 2007, the company became incorporated; Zee Designs Inc. (ZDI). At this juncture, It was recommended by the CPA to acquire the services of a bookkeeper on a regular basis to check up on daily and monthly transactions, assist with quarterly tasks, process payroll, as well as generate and review important financial statements.

Zee loved learning the details about accounting and bookkeeping from the company’s new bookkeeper, and applying these important principles to the daily bookkeeping routine. ZDI saved money by using professional bookkeeping services on a regularly scheduled basis, and was reassured the books were in tip-top shape for the CPA each annual tax season. Zee emphasizes, “I personally know and appreciate the value of having a professional bookkeeper alongside my entrepreneurial journey.”

At the close of 2013, now 25 years in business with Zee Designs Inc., Zee started to consider a career change. In the fall of 2018, she migrated ZDI's business accounts and her own personal accounts — which held 20+ years of data — to QuickBooks Online (QBO) including QuickBooks Plus and QuickBooks Essentials subscriptions. Zee explains, "Having worked in the online software development industry for nearly two decades, I understood the advantages and value of Software as a Service (SaaS). While QBO is quite different from QBD, I quickly fell in love with doing ZDI's accounting and bookkeeping tasks in a new way."

Zee learned as much as she could about the QBO interface. In doing so, she came to realize how her experience, knowledge and skills working with QBD and QBO could help others. By the end of 2018, she decided to pursue a career in accounting, bookkeeping and consulting. “I contacted my bookkeeper and CPA and asked them for their reassurance about the level of my skills in this area, and received their full support. While they are still my bookkeeper and CPA, they are also my mentors.”

With a new direction in career decided, Zee stepped into 2019 by contacting Intuit support about how to become a QBO ProAdvisor and a QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) ProAdvisor account was established. "To my delight, the training was offered online and I achieved the QBO ProAdvisor Certification in May 2019. Providing accounting and bookkeeping services is very satisfying work. Consulting is a natural part of these services, and I am grateful to impart the wisdom I have acquired as a business entrepreneur to others who are on their entrepreneurial journey."

Congratulations to Zee for earning the prestigious award of the Advanced Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor on August 9, 2020! The QBO Advanced Certification course builds on the core concepts in the QBO certification course.
